November 12th-16th
Monday was the final class day to get our business idea presentations finalized and ready for the showing tomorrow! We were all so nervous for the presentations, but ready. To start the day off we did an exercise in which we had to pick between two different things, like mountains or beaches or in between, and then explain why we picked what we did. We were able to give to opposing views and ask the opposite side questions.
Tuesday we met at Senco. The day has come to present our class business ideas in front of a few of the investors and one previous CEO student at Senco. They asked us questions based on what was in our presentations. They gave us tips and pointers on things that needed changed or to be added and what we should do if it were the business selected by the class.
Wednesday we were back at Marathon with a few of their very own HR speaking! They talked to us about the applying interviewing process and how we can make sure our interviews go well. They also talked to us about resumes and how to make sure your resume is picked by the employer.
Picking the class business on Thursday was tough, all three of our ideas were very good and had so much potential. It boiled down to what would take the least amount of preparation, what would draw in the most people, which had the least amount of risk, and what would make us the most money. After drawing these terms up and discussing as a class where each idea fell in the categories, we did a very simple vote. The comedian night won! We started to discuss strategies as to what we’re going to do for the execution of the event.
Friday we went back to Flying S for a presentation from Child of God Rescue, a non-profit organization. They explained how their organization ran, what they do, and why they do it. We learned a lot about non-profits from them. Everyone in the class left with a sense of gratitude.
It was a busy week, as always. We accomplished a lot, though. We look forward to the next upcoming week and everything in store for the class!
