We had the incredible opportunity to spend the day at the Illinois State Capitol alongside Leadership Crawford County. Our students witnessed the Governor’s Budget Address firsthand and saw state government in action from the gallery to the Senate floor.

We had the honor of meeting Senator Chapin Rose and Representative Adam Niemerg, who both took time to visit with our group. Senator Rose even spoke with our students following the budget address, sharing insights on leadership, public service, and civic responsibility. To top it off, our group was formally announced on the Senate floor. Talk about a moment that makes you stand a little taller.

Experiences like this remind our students that leadership is not just something you learn in a classroom. It is something you witness, practice, and step into.
